The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has welcomed the ‘Agnipath Scheme’ launched by the Ministry of Defense, empowering the youth in defence training and securing the nation.

It is to be noted that Agnipath Scheme is a pan-India short-term service youth recruitment scheme for the armed forces. Recruits, called Agniveers, will serve in varied terrains — desert, mountain, land, sea, or air for 4 years.

Under the Agnipath scheme, 45,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited annually, and most will leave the service in just 4 years. Of the total annual recruits, only 25% will be allowed to continue for another 15 years under permanent commission.
